POSITION SUMMARY:
The IT Technician role is responsible the smooth operation of all school technology. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who can handle a wide range of technical issues, from routine maintenance to hardware repairs and software support. This role is crucial in supporting both staff and students, ensuring they have the tools and resources needed for a successful learning environment.
DUTIES AND
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Support and Maintenance:
- Resolve daily technical issues, ensuring the school day runs smoothly. This includes troubleshooting and resolving problems with desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, and other classroom technology such as Smartboards and document cameras.
- Manage school printers, including clearing paper jams and replacing toner.
- Provide user support for multi-factor authentication (Duo Mobile) and assist with accessing online curriculum and educational tools.
- Maintain and update staff and student Google Accounts, and ensure all accounts and devices are accurate in Google Admin and Active Directory.
- Support contractors with their technology needs.
- Manage the school's intercom system and schedule service calls for printers as needed.
Hardware and Software Management:
- Perform hardware repairs on Chromebooks, laptops, and staff computers.
- Upgrade computers with the latest available hardware and ensure all devices are up to date with the latest software.
- Deploy new technology, including computers, laptops, and Chromebooks, to classrooms.
- Install applications on staff computers and image old devices with Chrome OS Flex.
- Handle equipment for emergencies, such as maintaining Chromebooks and hotspots.
Clerical and Administrative Tasks:
- Answer tech support emails and manage the tech support email account.
- Order and manage technology supplies.
- Create and maintain Google Forms for district use (e.g., leave forms, tax credit forms).
- Set the school bell schedule for both Heritage Middle School and Del Rio.
- Read up on the latest technology trends to stay informed and provide effective solutions.
- Maintain an inventory of all technology items.
Projects and
Collaboration:
- Assist with special projects, such as moving classroom technology for building projects or installing new audio-visual equipment.
- Attend and participate in staff and IT meetings.
- Set up audio-visual equipment for school assemblies and other special events.
- Dispose of old technology in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
EDUCATION AND
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Proven experience in IT support and computer repair.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Experience in a school district or educational environment.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong attention to detail.
- Two years of college desirable or work experience in school district.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft Certified) are preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess or be able to obtain an Arizona (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card.
