Worship Pastor

Chino Valley Community Church (CVC Church) is a vibrant, Christ‑centered community in Chino Hills, California, dedicated to glorifying God by being and making disciples of Jesus Christ. The church offers a variety of ministries for all ages, including children’s programs, youth groups, and adult Bible studies, and emphasizes belonging, spiritual growth, service, and outreach both locally and globally as expressions of Christian discipleship.

The Worship Arts Director at Chino Valley Community Church (CVCC) will provide spiritual and musical leadership by overseeing all aspects of music, production, and technology—including sound, video, livestream, and lighting—to ensure a cohesive and excellent worship experience. Reporting directly to the Senior Pastor, the Pastor/Director will craft and lead two identical Sunday services (9:00 am and 10:45 am) while providing a strategic direction that aligns with the church’s mission to glorify God by being and making disciples.

This role emphasizes an intergenerational worship philosophy that utilizes a “traditional praise band” style, modernizing hymns to bridge the gap between CVCC’s diverse age groups. Crucially, the role must function as a “leader of leaders,” moving beyond individual performance to prioritize the recruitment, training, and shepherding of volunteer team members to cultivate a Christ-centered and Spirit-led culture of worship.

• Plan and lead CVCC worship services. Craft worship experience in conjunction with and in support of Senior Pastor.
• Heart and ability to disciple worship team / tech team members.
• Schedule and manage worship team / Tech team volunteers for weekly service.
• Maintain regular contact with volunteers to train, encourage and support.
• Coordinate and run weekly rehearsals with musicians, vocalists, and techs in preparation for Sunday services.
• Plan and produce special services such as Good Friday, Easter, Christmas Eve and others in collaboration with senior pastor.
• Oversee tech team members: sound, video, livestream and lights.
• Oversee and implementation of the worship arts budget.
• Manage facilities, equipment and other resources committed to worship art.
• Develop and implement other high-quality, forward-looking solutions within worship arts such as stage design, visual presentation and technology solutions.

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Worship Pastor:

A bachelor’s degree is preferred (ideally in Music and/or Biblical Studies); a master’s or seminary degree is a plus but not required. More important than formal education is demonstrated ministry experience and competency.

Candidates should have:

• 3+ years of worship leadership experience in a church similar in size or complexity (CVCC averages ~1,200 in attendance)
• Professional-level musical ability in vocals and at least one instrument (guitar strongly preferred)

Hands-on experience with worship technology, including sound, lighting, Pro Presenter, Planning Center, Ableton, and A/V systems.

• The ideal candidate brings a balanced blend of musical excellence, technical fluency, pastoral heart, and systems thinking, including:
• Worship & Service Design: Ability to design and lead cohesive, repeatable Sunday services and collaborate with the Senior Pastor on special services (Good Friday, Easter, Christmas Eve).
