Overview

Adult Discipleship Pastor is responsible for nurturing the spiritual curiosity and discipleship of adults within the Verve City Church community. This leadership role has primary responsibilities for shepherding and empowering individuals to grow and contribute to the transformational ministries of Verve City Church.

Key Responsibilities Discipleship and Leadership Development
  • Oversee ongoing implementation of an established adult discipleship system that addresses the spiritual, relational, and practical needs of adults at various stages of life and faith; and reflects the cultural diversity of our community.
  • Oversee and facilitate targeted ministry programs, small groups, and special events that promote spiritual growth, biblical literacy, and a deeper relationship with Christ. Identify, track, maintain, and use data to evaluate the engagement of Verve City adults on an ongoing basis in order to ensure effectiveness of adult discipleship initiatives.
  • Lead the recruiting, interviewing, training and equipping of Dream Team volunteers to assist in adult discipleship initiatives and programs including Alpha, Rooted, Explore groups, and Outreach.
  • Collaborate with other ministry leaders to ensure a seamless integration of discipleship efforts throughout the church (i.e. children’s ministry, students, outreach, etc.).
Teaching and Pastoral Care
  • Serve as-needed on the teaching team to deliver engaging and biblically sound teachings during weekend services (potentially a few times per year), Dream Team trainings (quarterly), and other adult-focused discipleship activities multiple times per year (i.e. Alpha, Rooted, Foundations, etc.).
  • Actively foster an environment of continuous learning, modeling and encouraging individuals to explore, question, and apply Jesus-centered principles in their daily lives.
  • Collaborate with other pastoral staff to provide holistic care for the congregation, including but not limited to weddings, funerals, crisis counseling, etc.
  • Maintain an attitude of flexibility and demonstrate a willingness to assist with the strategic development and leadership of ministries and campuses “not here yet” as Verve City grows.
Qualifications
  • A faithful and growing follower of Jesus Christ with a deep personal passion for equipping Christians and reaching unchurched and dechurched adults, and a willingness to demonstrate personal commitment to the faith statement, lived implications, and staff values of Verve City Church.
  • Bachelor's degree in theology, ministry, or a related field (required). The strongest candidates may bring a blend of experience in both non-ministry and ministry contexts.
  • Proven track record of successful multiplication of adult discipleship programs and volunteer teams.
  • Strong biblical knowledge and theological understanding, with the ability to effectively teach and communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated pastoral skills, including experience with mentoring and providing spiritual care across diverse groups of people and needs.
  • Excellent leadership awareness and organizational abilities, with the capacity to oversee, delegate, equip, and/or do what’s needed.
  • If married - have a spouse/family who actively support your pursuit of a leadership role in vocational ministry.
Practical Expectations
  • Full-time role (40+ hours per week) // Flexible PTO
  • Sundays required
  • Additional evenings/weekends required several times per month
  • Retreats, special events, leadership gatherings required seasonally
