About the Opportunity
College graduates and college students are encouraged to apply for a finance intern position in the Finance Department of the Inland Empire Utilities Agency. The internship provides hands‑on experience in governmental accounting, financial reporting, budget preparation, account reconciliation, auditing support, and fiscal administration.

- Perform assigned professional administrative duties and special projects.
- Participate in studies and research for programs and their financial support.
- Prepare reports and recommendations related to assigned areas.
- Conduct surveys and provide administrative research, statistical, or financial analysis.
- Compile data and create spreadsheets, reports, manuals, and publications.
- Perform other related duties as required, including administrative or technical tasks.
- Travel to off‑site locations as needed.
- High‑school diploma or GED.
- Graduation or current enrollment in an accredited college or university with major coursework in Finance, Accounting, Business, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; other MS Office applications preferred.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and to communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Prior professional work experience in accounting or finance (preferred).
- Working knowledge of research, statistical analysis, and report preparation.
- Public administration principles, budget and accounting principles, data collection and research methods.
- Ability to analyze and forecast statistical and financial data, prepare tables, charts, graphs, flow charts, and clear reports.
- Understanding of applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
Individuals who are members of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) are ineligible for intern positions with IEUA.
EligibilityTwo internship positions are available. Interns will work up to 25 hours per week, not exceeding 960 hours per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).
