Purpose

The role is to be a leader of change to achieve Teichert’s goals in Safety and Environmental Programs. It will lead, educate, train, and support field employees in Safety and Environmental Best Management Practices, oversee accident studies and risk analysis, compile reports, recommend corrective actions, and train employees on safety programs. The position also assists with establishing corporate safety and environmental policies and administering Teichert’s Management Systems Programs.

Description

The Safety Professional will act as a vocal and charismatic leader, fostering a zero‑injury, incident‑free, and “Actively Caring” culture across all business units. Responsibilities include maintaining the corporate safety culture, ensuring compliance with local, state, federal, utility, and OSHA regulations, developing and delivering training, managing injury and incident prevention initiatives, reporting on safety metrics, and building relationships with field staff, vendors, regulators, and industry peers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, educate, train, and support field employees in Safety and Environmental Best Management Practices.
  • Study accidents and potential risks, compile reports, recommend preventive or corrective safety actions, and ensure follow‑through.
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements; investigate, document, and recommend resolution of hazardous or potentially hazardous conditions.
  • Develop and implement safety and health programs for business units, including training, orientation, and ongoing education.
  • Manage injury, illnesses, and incident prevention initiatives, ensuring investigations and reports comply with policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Risk Department and management on return‑to‑work programs and safety performance metrics.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with field staff, vendors, suppliers, regulators, and industry peers.
  • Assist with internal administrative organization and documentation related to safety, including budgets, training records, regulations, and OSHA compliance.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health/Safety or a related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 0–4 years of experience in construction or industrial safety.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to be a vocal and charismatic leader.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel overnight as needed.
  • Successful completion of pre‑employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation.
  • Current on all company safety training requirements.
  • Knowledge of first aid procedures and regulatory compliance across local, state, and federal levels.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Work involves long periods at a computer or driving to job sites; site visits include walking on uneven ground, climbing, bending, stooping, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Exposure to job‑site conditions such as loud noise, dust, fumes, and extreme weather; may work various shifts including early mornings, evenings, and peak‑season overtime.
Salary

$87,083 – $121,917 (annual base salary). Actual base salary may vary based on role, level, geographic location, education, training, and experience.
