As the CDL Class A Truck Driver, you will be responsible for operating a semi-tractor with manual transmission and curtain side trailer and delivering product to multiple customer sites throughout the day.
Key Relationships:
You will report directly to our Transportation Manager in our Chino, CA facility.
Location:
This position is based out of Chino, California.
Shift hours:
Either 4am/6am to 2pm/4pm or 5am/6am to 3pm/3:30pm - flexible!
At a high level, you will:
- Make deliveries to multiple customers throughout the work week in a safe and efficient manner
- Inspect cargo to ensure that it is loaded correctly
- Review shipping documents and report any issues you might have with the truck or deliveries
- Take the truck to the mechanic when asked for maintenance, repair, or new tires
- Monitor the oil drums and Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) fuel that we use
- Accurately fill out truck reports and logbooks per DOT regulations and Metrie’s Policy
- Maneuver truck into loading or unloading position, following signals from loading crew as needed
- Drive truck to weigh station before and after loading, and along route to document weight and conform to state regulations
- Operate the forklift in a safe manner
- Communicate with the Night Loading Manager on any changes or issues with the trucks, or the Delivery Routing List
- Work in concert with the Lead Truck Driver and Transportation Manager on a daily basis
- Pick up materials from vendors when assigned
- Provide excellent customer service in receiving, checking, and delivery of our products
- Collect the accurate amount C.O.D. payments from customers
- Ensures the truck is loaded with the correct materials, is properly loaded, and separated so the loads can be allowed for quickest unloading
- Perform a safety check and walk-around the truck and perform general maintenance on trucks, including but not limited to checking oil, fuel levels, back-up alarm and lights, etc.
- Clean your truck and cab on the days it was used
- Obey all traffic rules, company safety rules and regulations
- Inform the Transportation Manager immediately of any traffic fines or citations
- Perform any other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the Transportation Manager or the Lead Truck Drivers
You are an ideal candidate if you:
- High School graduate or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Minimum of two-year work experience as a CDL Class A Truck Driver for a large lumber warehouse type industry
- Must have experience driving in ice, snow, and other winter conditions
- Must have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License for trucks at 26,000 lbs. or more.
