Roadtex Transportation has become a leader in the nationwide LTL industry, specializing in transporting time and temperature-sensitive products. We handle refrigerated and LTL needs by leveraging no sailing schedules, our nationwide network of 32 strategically placed temperature-controlled facilities, our state-of-the-art tracking, and our specialized equipment and warehousing capabilities. In 2022, Roadtex was acquired by Echo Global Logistics. The acquisition brings a truckload brokerage and expanded transportation management solutions to Roadtex's customers while providing Echo with our national warehouse footprint and advanced temperature-controlled transportation solutions.

Position Overview:
The Dispatcher is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing daily transportation operations to ensure efficient and timely delivery of goods. This role involves route planning, real-time tracking of shipments, and effective communication with carriers, drivers, and schedulers. The Dispatcher must demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and schedule daily and next-day routes to optimize delivery efficiency and meet customer commitments.
  • Track and trace trips throughout the day, ensuring on-time performance and addressing any service delays.
  • Communicate with 3rd-party carriers and internal teams to coordinate pickup and delivery schedules.
  • Collaborate closely with schedulers to align route plans with customer requirements and capacity availability.
  • Monitor driver progress and provide real-time updates to operations and customer service teams.
  • Identify and resolve potential route conflicts, service issues, or delays proactively.
  • Maintain accurate dispatch records and route data for reporting and analysis.
  • Apply critical thinking to adjust plans as needed, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, or a related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in dispatching, logistics coordination, or transportation planning or equivalent.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and dispatch or transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to make quick, sound decisions and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Preferred

Skills:
  • Experience working with 3rd-party carriers and logistics partners.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation industry practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours or on-call as operational needs require.
