CBS is currently recruiting for a Staff Accountant reporting to the CFO/Controller.

CBS is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self‑starter to join our team as a Staff Accountant. This is a full-time role based out of our Chippewa Falls location.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Review, code, and enter vendor invoices into Ajera.
  • Vendor set up including obtaining W9 and if applicable, a certificate of insurance.
  • Prepare and send client invoices in coordination with Project Managers.
  • Apply payments received and assist with client account reconciliations.
  • Process daily bank deposits and support cash flow tracking.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements monthly.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes.
  • Prepare AP, AR, fringe, and other financial reports for management review.
  • Assist with accounts receivable collections, including monthly client statements and client follow up via phone and email.
  • Support compliance reporting, including sales/use tax, 1099s, audits, and related filings.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records, files, and supporting documentation.
  • Support Project Managers with invoice folders, aging reports, project billing information, and related financial data.
  • Assist with process improvements, accounting procedure documentation, and system updates as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, financial administration, or a related role.
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy across recurring deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time-sensitive accounting responsibilities.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also supporting cross‑functional teams.
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with Ajera, Quick Books, CRM systems, or similar accounting/project management platforms.
  • Familiarity with project-based accounting, professional services billing, or A/E consulting environments.
  • Experience supporting audits, tax preparation, 1099 reporting, or year‑end financial processes.
  • Exposure to payroll-related reporting, benefit deductions, or employee financial setup.
  • Interest in improving AP/AR workflows, accounting procedures, and reporting processes.
