About the role
The Mechanical Design Engineer will work in a collaborative team environment designing back of the barn solutions for our customers including design of ventilation, steel, and soaking systems. The Mechanical Design Engineer will need to be a self-starter with a high level of technical expertise in mechanical design.
What you'll do
- Develop solutions and design products and systems for identified operational needs.
- Utilize Solid Works CAD software to produce 3D Models and 2D drawings.
- Assist in preparation of customer drawings and manage product documentation updates.
- Design custom equipment within standard requirements to meet customer specifications and industry standards.
- Develop and maintain accurate documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and test reports.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing regarding problems related to custom designs, specification, and functional performance.
- Perform thorough analysis and simulations to validate the performance and reliability of components and mechanical systems.
- Contribute to the selection of appropriate materials and components for the mechanical systems, considering factors like cost, availability, and sustainability.
- Assists with root cause analysis and determination of equipment malfunctions and failures and develops solutions for identified issues.
- Manage Engineering change requests and change orders from inception to completion in partnership with available resources.
- Some travel required to complete on-farm R&D analysis or other potential projects.
- Attend technical trade shows as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other-related Engineering field required.
- 5-7 years relevant work experience required.
- Experience with Solid Works software is required.
- Strong working knowledge of modern analytical techniques.
- Highly proficient using MS Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently while managing a heavy workload to meet business demands.
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
- Proven ability to implement solutions based on root cause analysis.
- Ability to work with offshore resources.
- Experience with ventilation or related products a plus.
- Must be comfortable working in a dairy environment with varied environmental conditions.
