Job Overview
REX SYSTEMS INCORPORATED is seeking a senior, hands‑on manufacturing/production engineer to support urgent sustainment needs for legacy U.S. defense electronics. For over 50 years, our products have supported critical military platforms. Much of this work relies on the deep tribal knowledge held by a small, highly experienced technical team. As these systems continue to age, capturing, restoring, and extending this capability is mission critical and time sensitive.
WhatYou Will Do
- Lead manufacturing and production engineering activities for low‑volume, high‑reliability defense electronics.
- Capture and document legacy processes, tribal knowledge, and test methods from senior technicians.
- Analyze, define, and implement production methods that restore or extend manufacturability of aging systems.
- Troubleshoot complex analog, digital, RF, and mixed‑signal assemblies down to the component level.
- Develop test fixtures, test procedures, and conformance methods, especially where no documentation exists.
- Design and fabricate simple mechanical fixtures or tooling as needed.
- Interpret and work from government technical data packages (TDPS), schematics, and legacy drawings.
- Support quality, purchasing, and production teams with root‑cause analysis, corrective action, and process improvements.
- Provide manufacturability input during bid/proposal activity.
- Maintain production documentation, work instructions, process flows, and assembly/test methods.
- Degree in engineering or engineering technology and/or 10+ years hands‑on electronics manufacturing & troubleshooting experience.
- Deep working knowledge of analog, digital, embedded, RF, or telecom electronics.
- Ability to troubleshoot PCBs to component level with knowledge of passive/active electrical components and their properties.
- Strong understanding of schematics, drawings, and technical data packages.
- Familiarity with IPC, MIL‑STD‑883, MIL‑STD‑202, MIL‑PRF documents.
- Experience with oscilloscopes, cable testers (Cirris), and bench‑level diagnostics.
- Excellent documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
- Desire to help capture irreplaceable institutional knowledge from veteran engineers/technicians.
- National Instruments LabVIEW (highly desirable).
- Programming languages: C, C++, Embedded
C. - Autodesk Eagle or other PCB layout/CAD tools; experience generating or editing Gerber files.
- Cirris cable testers.
- General CAD and schematic capture tools.
Mechanical aptitude; ability to design simple fixtures and machining experience (bonus).
