Technical Engineers develop plans that guide construction crews to success. As a Technical Engineer in the Army National Guard, you will learn to build, plan, and repair airstrips, docks, barracks, roads, and other projects.
Responsibilities- Draw topographic maps and charts using Computer‑Aided Drafting systems.
- Conduct geodetic and construction surveys with automated integrated survey instruments and GPS technology.
- Provide technical support for vertical and horizontal construction projects.
- Perform technical investigation, surveying, drafting, and develop construction plans and specifications.
- Draw maps, charts, and scale drawings of roads, airfields, buildings; conduct land surveys; prepare wiring and plumbing diagrams; build scale models; assemble aerial photographs into photomaps.
- Aerial photo interpretation.
- Architectural and structural drawing.
- Ability to convert ideas into drawings.
- Interest in maps and charts.
- Working with Computer‑Aided Drafting technology.
- Interest in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
You will train for 10 weeks of Basic Training and 17 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, combining classroom and field experience. You earn a regular paycheck and qualify for tuition assistance.
