This role has been designed as Onsite with an expectation that you will primarily work from an HPE office.

The role involves designing, developing, troubleshooting and debugging software programs for software enhancements and new products, determining hardware compatibility, and influencing hardware design. Contributions have substantial technical impact on significant HPE products or strategic architectural directions, providing long‑lasting benefits such as time‑to‑market improvements, cost reductions, or meeting future customer needs.

The engineer serves as technical leader, mentors others, and engages the HPE technical community.

Responsibilities
  • Develop organization‑wide architectures, strategies and methodologies for software systems design and development across multiple platforms and organizations.
  • Identify and recommend new technologies, innovations and outsourced development partner relationships to align with the technology roadmap and business value, creating plans for integration and update into the architecture.
  • Review, evaluate and influence designs and project activities for compliance with development guidelines and standards.
  • Provide tangible solutions that improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
  • Contribute domain expertise, business acumen and experience to influence decisions of executive business leadership, outsourced development partners and industry standards groups.
  • Bring creativity and innovation to the organization.
  • Guide and mentor less‑experienced team members to demonstrate software systems design and development innovation and excellence, supporting career growth.
  • Act as an internal authority on software systems design, sought for consulting across organizations or business units.
  • Contribute to the external technical community through whitepapers, patents or other significant innovations.
Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems or equivalent.
  • 12+ years of experience in embedded software development.
  • Expertise with multiple software systems design tools and languages (C, C++, Python, Go).
  • Linux development, RESTful API, firmware security features (e.g., HWRot, IDEVID, Platform Certificates).
  • Expert knowledge of SDLC implementation and enforcement.
  • Strong assessment and problem‑solving skills.
  • Designing software systems for multiple platform types.
  • Software systems testing methodology, including writing and executing test plans, debugging, testing scripts and tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery of English and local language.
  • Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at management levels.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Architect, design and develop innovative software system design tools and languages.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Lead overall architecture of software systems for products and solutions.
  • Integrate efficient and scalable software systems running on multiple platform types into overall architecture.
  • Evaluate and select forms and processes for software system testing and methodology.
  • History of innovation with multiple patents or deployed solutions in software design.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and local languages, conveying nuanced concepts and influencing with a broad vocabulary.
  • Negotiate and influence options at business unit and executive levels.

Salary and Compensation

United States:
Annual Salary USD 169,500 – 322,500 in Colorado; USD 161,500 – 370,500 in Texas & Wisconsin. The listed salary range reflects base salary; variable incentives may also be offered.
