Substitute Teacher

The substitute will assume the day-to-day responsibilities during the absence of the regular classroom instructor. Substitute employees are employed on an as-needed basis and are not guaranteed a set number of hours / days.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Maintains a safe classroom environment conducive to effective learning
• Maintains professionalism while supervising students
• Applies all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment and facilities
• Ability to work with other staff members
• Keep all students in the classroom under supervision at all times
• Demonstrate flexibility and preparedness to monitor various educational levels and subject areas.
• Ensure district policies are observed during all activities
• Become familiar with fire exits, fire drill procedures, severe weather procedures, and tornado warning procedures
• Take attendance in accordance with school policy
• Maintain confidentiality as defined by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
• Follow instructions provided by the regular instructor and administration.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required

Skills:

• Ability to follow directions and adapt to changing classroom environments.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and students.
• Strong classroom management and student supervision skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Salary Information: $25.00 / hour
