We are recruiting on behalf of a reputable commercial vehicle repair business in Chorley, Lancashire, for the position of HGV Technician. This HGV Technician role offers excellent earning potential combined with a supportive working environment, making it an attractive opportunity for skilled and experienced professionals seeking career progression in the motor trade.
Benefits of an HGV Technician:
Salary up to £50,500 basic, including bonuses and Saturday overtime, rising to approximately £53,000 OTE
Additional monthly bonuses for MOT testing and possessing a Class 1 licence
Bonus scheme based on performance
Alternating shift pattern offering a good work-life balance:
Week 1:
Monday to Thursday 7am–6pm;
Week 2:
Tuesday to Friday 7am–6pm, with alternate Saturday mornings 7am–12pm
4 days on – 4 days off and 4.5 days on – 2.5 days off rotation
On-site parking facilities

Duties of an HGV Technician:
Conduct routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on heavy goods vehicles in accordance with manufacturer standards
Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults efficiently
Complete warranty repairs adhering to manufacturer guidelines
Strip, fit, and replace components as necessary
Maintain accurate documentation of work undertaken
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and workshop standards
Requirements of an HGV Technician:
NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent qualification; time-served individuals considered
Proven experience in commercial vehicle maintenance and repair
Strong diagnostic, fault-finding, and problem-solving skills
Methodical approach with high attention to detail and a commitment to quality
Full UK driving licence; HGV Class 1 licence is advantageous
Ability to work effectively within a team and independently
Good organisational skills to manage workload efficiently
