Speech & Language Pathologist

Speech & Language Pathologists for Chowchilla Elementary School District to work for the District in Chowchilla, California. Consult with parents, general education classroom teachers, and other specialists regarding student needs. Screen, assess, diagnose, and identify children with various types of communication disorders according to procedures outlined in IDEA and MPSE and prepare related materials. Develop IEPs for each child in the program in cooperation with parents and school staff.

Maintain accurate records and reports for each child in the program including diagnosis information, goals and objectives, pupil progress, pertinent conference information involving parents and other professionals. Prepare and maintain records, reports, files, and documents as required by District and Madera/Mariposa SELPA administrative policies, state and federal laws and regulations. Provide appropriate in-service to site staff for assigned children. Coordinate and plan the work of IAs or other paraprofessionals assigned to the program.

Provide treatment in accordance with the needs of selected students of caseload. Uphold confidentiality guidelines pertaining to students and families. Supervise student out-of-classroom activities as directed to ensure safety. Monitor student achievement through periodic, ongoing assessment and adjust instruction in response to student data. Act as a resource for other school personnel and staff in matters related to the field of Speech Pathology and Audiology.

Develop and disseminate treatment schedules. Make appropriate referrals for students with diagnosed disorders. Monitor schedule to assure continuous and effective delivery of services to participating schools. Maintain professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the District and in self-directed professional growth activities. Communicate with staff, district personnel, public, and agency representatives. Plan and implement speech and language remediation programs, administrative assessments, and form goals and objectives for students placed in speech programs.

Deliver timely reports and records. Supervise pupils for out-of-classroom activities. Participate in reflective conversations. Demonstrate an aptitude for working with and caring for students. Little domestic travel may be involved. May undergo background checks.

Must have a Bachelor’s in any field and a Clinical or Rehabilitative Services – Language, Speech, and Hearing Credential. Alternatively, must have a PhD in Speech Language Pathology.
