Job Description
Kleinfelder is a leading construction services company and we are seeking a Construction Inspector II to perform general construction inspection tasks, verify compliance with standards, and support projects across Northern Virginia, Richmond, Lynchburg, Christiansburg, and Hampton Roads.
This position is located in the Northern Virginia, Richmond, Lynchburg, Christiansburg, and Hampton Roads areas of Virginia.
Step into Your New RoleAs a Construction Inspector II, you will perform general construction inspection tasks to verify compliance with standards, codes, ordinances, zoning regulations, and contract specifications for projects such as bridges, roadways, and environmental components.
Responsibilities- Inspects and monitors construction sites and the various work activities on these sites to verify adherence to standards, codes, and specifications.
- Prepares daily reports documenting inspections and other relevant project information.
- Verifies lines and grades of project improvements.
- Coordinates and performs field testing of materials associated with inspection as required.
- Implements quantity calculations for pay estimates.
- Performs analytical calculations such as basic earthwork, grading, profiles, and special staking procedures.
- Communicates verbally and in writing with contractors, owners, and project stakeholders as directed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years in the field or trade‑related training in a design, construction inspection, construction materials engineering/testing, or related field.
- Knowledge and experience with equipment used in construction inspection and field testing of construction materials.
- Must be able to read, write, comprehend, and speak English fluently.
- Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential requirements.
- Familiarity with PC‑based computer systems and/or tablet systems.
- Current/valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a fingerprint/background check.
- Construction field materials testing certifications, e.g., asphalt, concrete, work zone, pavement marking, environmental.
- Associate degree or equivalent with courses related to the work type.
