Do you have a passion for helping students? The Montgomery County School Board in Virginia is now accepting applications for elementary school counselor positions that may become available within our division for the 2025 – 2026 school year.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The School Counselor will assist students with problems and decisions involved in understanding themselves and the world in which they live, and will work to help students make decisions about their future schooling and occupational interests. They will also serve as a resource for parents/guardians, teachers, and other adults involved with the students.

ESSENTIAL

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher’s License with an appropriate endorsement as a school counselor, PreK-12 or equivalent
• Possess an earned master’s degree in counseling with an emphasis in school counseling
• Demonstrate ability to support students by cooperatively working with parents/guardians and teachers
• Integrate technology into classroom instruction to enhance learning
• Utilize Google Drive for instructional purposes, collaboration, and managing coursework
• Create and maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment that respects the diversity of all students
• Communicate effectively with strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Engage and collaborate effectively with parents and families
• Collaborate with other teachers and contribute to a positive team environment
• Demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and reliability in fulfilling responsibilities

Preference Given For:

• Counselor and teaching experience

FLSA: Exempt

SALARY: $55,886.14 - $85,613.64 annually, with benefits; commensurate with experience
