Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.
Scope of PositionTo provide mechanical engineering design and expertise to enhance manufacturing capabilities through the implementation of new ideas and methods. Lead designs and projects to fulfill department goals and objectives in support of daily operations, continuous improvement and cost reductions efforts.
Responsibilities- Work directly with operations, engineering and maintenance in troubleshooting and resolving production equipment issues.
- Prepare cost estimates, cost justifications and capital requests for any new process improvements or new equipment purchases.
- Interface with operations, engineering and maintenance to develop/design and implement improvements in processes, equipment or safety in a manufacturing environment.
- Formal documentation for all aspects of designs or projects (i.e. Drawings, Spare Parts, Procedures, PM's, and Calibration).
- Work with operations, engineering, maintenance, and vendors on obsolescence planning to identify replacement/new technology for obsolete equipment.
- Work with outside contractors to repair and install equipment.
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Typical work schedule will be 8am-5pm M-F. Flexibility is expected for off shift support and some weekend coverage as safety, emergency, production, or construction activity requires.
