We are actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to join a specialized Space & Defense division. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, this onsite role in Christiansburg, VA, is critical to the development and delivery of advanced electromechanical systems. You will serve as the technical lead for an integrated product team, driving the design of high-reliability rotary motion assemblies used in harsh military and aerospace environments.
CoreResponsibilities
- Spearhead the end-to-end system design for complex rotary servo motion assemblies tailored for aerospace and military applications.
- Translate customer requirements and specifications into actionable engineering concepts, drafting comprehensive statements of work (SOW) and product specs.
- Integrate multiple engineering disciplines—including structural dynamics, mechanical, electrical, thermal, and rotary motion to develop robust electromechanical solutions.
- Utilize fundamental engineering principles to model, predict, and evaluate system-level performance, ultimately selecting the most effective design approaches.
- Direct and mentor an integrated product development team to ensure milestones are met on time and within scope.
- Act as the principal technical liaison for both internal senior management and external customers/suppliers, providing regular progress reports and technical updates.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aeronautical Engineering.
- Experience: 5 to 7 years of engineering experience, with a strong focus on the design and analysis of precision electromechanical hardware.

Deep expertise in mechanical design and packaging, complemented by strong electrical engineering and analytical capabilities. - Software: Hands-on experience with CAD/CAE modeling tools (UG NX is highly preferred).
- Specialization: Knowledge of motion control techniques and experience executing motion simulations.
- Soft Skills: Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Security Clearance: None required.
