How You'll Help Transform HealthcareDiagnose and treat human disease, illness, and injuries, and practice evidence‑based medicine. Prescribe medically necessary medications and treatments. May serve on various Carilion and/or hospital committees. Complete required documentation for patients’ Health Information record.
- Deliver high‑quality, compassionate medical care applying evidence‑based medicine to the highest degree possible. Examine patients using various medical equipment, instruments and tests; order or perform tests, analyses and imaging; diagnose patient conditions based on results; prescribe and administer drugs, treatments and vaccinations.
- Work closely with case management, nursing, and the medical staff to assure all patients have an appropriate plan of care and ongoing care coordination.
- Actively support Joint Commission continuous readiness and compliance.
- Support performance improvement through collaboration on standards of equipment, supplies, cost‑effective resource management, and evidence‑based medicine.
- Complete all required documentation timely and accurately. Report births, deaths and contagious diseases as required.
- Conduct, cooperate, support and collaborate on basic and clinical research, developing and testing new medical techniques.
- Supervise medical treatment of patients; supervise physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, medical residents, medical students and office staff. Participate in teaching and mentoring.
- Maintain and enhance professional competency and skills, and uphold the highest standards of professional expertise and conduct.
