Orthopedic Spine Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant)

Carilion Clinic seeks a dedicated Orthopedic Spine Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our growing Spine Surgery team. The APP will collaborate with fellowship‑trained orthopedic spine surgeons in a high‑volume practice, providing comprehensive care across outpatient, inpatient, perioperative, and first‑assist roles in the operating room.

• Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations for spine patients.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and labs.
• Develop and implement evidence‑based treatment plans.
• Provide pre‑operative and post‑operative care.
• First assist in spine surgical procedures.
• Conduct inpatient rounds and coordinate discharge planning.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and recovery.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nursing staff, therapy services, and care coordination teams.
• Document accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Board certification as an NP or PA‑C.
• Current Virginia licensure (or eligibility).
• Previous orthopedic or spine experience preferred.
• Surgical first assist experience preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment and excellent communication skills.
• Commitment to high‑quality, patient‑centered care.

• Full‑time position with a combination of clinic, OR, and hospital rounding.
• Shared call responsibilities (if applicable).
