  • Develop, implement, and maintain documented quality procedures, work instructions, control plans, and inspection/testing methods for LED commercial and industrial lighting products manufactured at the Christiansburg facility.
  • Lead all quality control and quality assurance activities including incoming inspection, in-process checks, and final product release to ensure conformance to specifications.
  • Establish, track, and report plant quality metrics (scrap, rework, first-pass yield, customer complaints, warranty returns, PPM, on-time corrective actions) and use data to prioritize improvement efforts.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (RCA / CAPA) for internal nonconformances, supplier issues, and customer complaints, using problem solving tools such as 5 Whys, fishbone, FMEA, and 8D.
  • Partner closely with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and maintenance to define process controls, improve process capability, and prevent recurring defects.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements related to lighting products and manufacturing processes, in collaboration with EHS.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the quality team (technicians, inspectors, engineers), setting clear objectives and building a strong quality culture on the shop floor.
  • Champion continuous improvement using Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies to reduce defects, scrap, warranty cost, and customer complaints.
  • Communicate quality performance, key risks, and action plans to plant leadership and corporate quality; participate in site and corporate reviews as required.
Required qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of quality tools and methodologies (SPC, control plans, PFMEA, MSA, capability studies, 8D, problem solving methods).
  • Proven track record leading root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions in manufacturing operations.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and reporting using common business and quality software (e.g., Excel, quality modules in ERP/MES, or dedicated QMS tools).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across functions and at all levels of the plant.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in lighting, electrical components, or similar durable goods supporting commercial and industrial customers.
