Position
Southwestern College is looking to hire a part‑time instructor to teach Afro‑American History II (AFRO/HIST 111).
The curriculum explores the history of African Americans from the Civil War to the present, emphasizing their cultural, social, and political impact on American history. Includes a study of the United States Constitution, the State Constitution of California, and discrepancies between rights and the experiences of African Americans.
Teaching DetailsClass modality is face‑to‑face. Classes may be held during weekdays, and/or evenings at any of the campus sites (Chula Vista, National City, Otay Mesa, and/or San Ysidro).
Qualifications- Master’s in African American Studies, Black Studies, Africana Studies, or Bachelor's degree in African‑American/Black/Africana Studies AND Master’s in Ethnic Studies OR the equivalent.
- Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC. (ACEI). A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with the online application.
