Part-Time Instructor

Description

Applications for Part-Time Instructor pools are continually accepted (unless otherwise specified) by the District. They will be added to the application pool for review by hiring authorities on an as-needed basis. Should you be invited for an interview, you will be contacted by a District representative.

Southwestern College is looking to hire a part-time instructor to teach the following Music courses:

  • Jazz Performance Workshop
  • Jazz Ensemble I-Big Band
  • Introduction to Improvisation
  • Brass Wood Percussion Instrumental
  • Introduction to Music

Please specify which course(s) you would be comfortable teaching in the application.

Lecture Classes may be offered at multiple campuses and in various modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online). If a course is offered online, completion of a 5-week Distance Education Faculty Training (DEFT) certification will be required prior to staffing (compensation available); or proof of a District approved Distance Education training course may be accepted in lieu of DEFT. Qualifications

Master's in music

OR

Bachelor's in music AND Master's in humanities

OR

The equivalent.

Additional assessment is required for applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States. Applicants must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) and must submit a copy of the evaluation with the application.
