Chula Vista Elementary School District is hiring Student Attendant – Special Education Site Substitutes for the 2025–2026 school year.
Requirements / QualificationsPosition Overview:
Student Attendant Site Subs provide critical coverage for special education classrooms across CVESD. Site Subs are dispatched daily based on district needs and are expected to report to any school site with short notice. This position supports students with physical and mental disabilities by providing physical care, behavior support, and supervision in Mild to Moderate Support Needs (MMSN), and Extensive Support Needs (ESN) classrooms.
Key Conditions of Assignment:
- On-call, dispatched daily; must be available and ready to report to any school
- Shift Start Times: 7:15am – 8:45am
- 182 workdays commitment
- No health or retirement benefits
- Required 6-month commitment before applying for contracted (permanent) positions
- No Call-Off’s/ Strict Attendance Requirements
Job Duties May Include:
- Support students with toileting, feeding, and hygiene
- Ensuring student safety during transport, recess, and class transitions
- Reinforcing behavior plans and assisting with instruction under supervision
- Supporting students with moderate to severe disabilities in a variety of settings
- Provide small group and individual instruction
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Pass the IA/SA Exam (No Outside Tests Accepted)
- Physical ability to assist with lifting/movement
- Patience, consistency, and ability to follow directions
