Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum): $90.510 - $116.790 - $130.800

The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.

You Will Do

To provide the professional, clinical and technical knowledge, and skills and expertise required for the provision of comprehensive pharmaceutical care that supports the mission, values and philosophy of Pharmacy Services and Sharp Health Care.

Required Qualifications
  • Completion of an American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited residency program.
  • 3 Years hospital pharmacy environment or equivalent healthcare setting.
  • 2 Years leadership experience.
  • California Pharmacist License - CA State Board of Pharmacy - REQUIRED
  • ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association - REQUIRED
Other Qualification Requirements
  • Board of Pharmacy Specialties Certification - preferred.
Essential Functions
  • Act as a department liaison and coordinate educational in services and information presentation to hospital and medical staff committees, the medical, nursing or pharmacy staffs, students, residents, and/or patients. Provide staff development through newsletter articles, drug monographs, and mentoring. Oversee the department's CE program. Organize and provide the agenda for the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Participate in medical staff advisory groups, multidisciplinary teams, focus groups, task forces, or other designated activities that will further the practice of pharmacy.

    Assist Pharmacy Services in keeping up to date on healthcare changes, particularly regarding Pharmacy practice.
  • Human resource management:
    For direct reports, assure staff performance appraisals for assigned cost center are conducted in a timely manner (within 30 days). Maintain up-to-date employee records. Manage timecards. Coach, counsel, and institute developmental and corrective action plans as necessary. Assist staff to access services provided by Human Resources and EAP. Ensure staff are informed via staff meetings and other communication. Support leadership decisions and ensure department compliance.

    Ensure the employee satisfaction process is completed on schedule.
  • Achieves financial outcomes:
    Maintain pharmaceutical budget. Develop achievable action plans when actual costs exceed budgeted cost. Assess expenditures related to drug therapies, including drug and non-drug costs and outcomes. Identify targets and provide financial input to Pharmacy Management Status Reports. Use available reports and feedback to identify opportunities for financial improvement. Design and implement pharmacy programs with staff input. Track and report outcomes improvements and therapy cost reduction from initiatives.
  • Patient care:
    Provide input to Pharmacy Management status reports. Present pharmacy quality performance measures to medical staff committees and the Quality Council when appropriate. Determine needs of Pharmacy and its customers. Gather input from service providers. Use formal measurements when advising Pharmacy and institutional management. Participate in the selection, development, implementation, outcomes analysis, reporting, and maintenance of selected pharmacotherapy improvement programs. Review progress and identify additional areas for improvement.

    Demonstrate competency in efficiently identifying resources. Provide and coordinate formal needs-based education. Educate and coordinate staff involvement in clinical responsibilities with formal certification. Assist in system integration programs and report on progress to committees. Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, DHS, and CMA expectations for medication usage.
