Shift Start Time: 3 PM. Shift End Time: 11:30 PM. AWS Hours Requirement: 8/40 – 8 Hour Shift. Additional Shift Information: 0.8 FTE, 32 hours scheduled weekly. Weekend Requirements: every other. On‑call
Required:
No. Pay Range: $30,370 – $37,950 – $42,510.
This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW. Employees must join the union within 31 days of hire and remain a member for the duration of the agreement. The position will be posted internally for 7 days from 6/4/2026 to 6/12/2026 and is available only to existing members of the ratified SEIU Bargaining Unit with a contract expiration date of 9/30/2027.
WhatYou Will Do
Performs individualized nursing care for patients and families under the direction of an RN; uses basic assessment data collection, participates in planning, executes interventions per the Plan Of Care, and contributes to evaluation of outcomes; communicates to ensure patients/families are educated about the Plan Of Care and planned treatments.
Required Qualifications- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) – American Heart Association – required.
- California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – CA Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technicians – required.
- 1 year experience as a CNA or LVN in a clinical setting; experience in the respective department.
- Vocational Nurse IV Therapy/Blood Withdrawal Certification – various; employee provides certificate; preferred.
- IV Therapy/Blood Withdrawal Certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Assessment data:
Collects assessment data (observation, palpation, auscultation) per Practice Act; documents data; communicates data to RN. - Communication and coordination:
Coordinates with healthcare team to manage patient care activities and workflow; follows through with actions/referrals; schedules and patient care needs with RN and staff. - Documentation:
Documents patient/family care needs per department guidelines and policies; implements plan of care per guidelines. - Plan of care:
Implements plan of care; refers practices outside scope to RN; seeks resources; collaborates with RNs for nursing decisions. - Informal teaching:
Provides constructive feedback to peers; informs supervisor of performance issues; provides unit specific information to students, floats, travelers/registry personnel; documents informal teaching. - Patient advocate:
Encourages patient and family participation in decision making; upholds patient/family rights. - Patient and family education:
Identifies learning needs; recognizes communication barriers; collaborates with RN on teaching plan; collects data on learning; evaluates learning through adult-learning theory; revises plan as appropriate. - Plan of care (continued):
Demonstrates understanding of patient/family goals; recommends to multidisciplinary team; updates written plan per RN direction; supports care plan evaluation. - Clinical competency: LVNs with less than 12 months experience will complete orientation and competency training.
- Proficient clinical skill and nursing judgment.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to meet department’s clinical competency requirements.
