Program

The Work Readiness for System Impacted Youth program offers paid work-readiness courses, educational guidance, paid internships, individualized support, financial support (education, childcare, interview/work attire and supplies, and transportation) to eligible individuals aged 16 – 24 who live in San Diego County and have been impacted by the justice system.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator and assigned representative in the agency in which they are stationed, the Career Coach performs outreach and recruitment, counseling, WIOA eligibility, suitability assessment, assessment testing, and case management. Maintains confidentiality of clients and acts as a liaison between employers and the EXCEL program. Works as part of the EXCEL team in providing work-readiness skills, develop internships and when needed, is responsible for job placement functions.

DUTIES
  • Performs outreach and recruitment of eligible applicants for programs by providing program presentations for interested applicants.
  • Keep accurate written records and case files that are necessary to meet program requirements.
  • Conduct initial assessments (including career interests and training readiness) for participants.
  • Provides case management services including follow-up, and referrals to other support agencies as necessary.
