The Facility Specialist is responsible for planning and coordinating the maintenance, repair, and improvement of the plant’s building facilities and infrastructure. This includes supporting the safe and reliable operation of electrical, HVAC, water, sewage, water quality, and fire protection systems. The role also helps drive facility objectives related to stable energy supply, energy savings, cost reduction, environmental waste prevention, and repair or construction project coordination.
PositionSummary
The Facility Specialist is responsible for planning and coordinating the maintenance, repair, and improvement of the plant’s building facilities and infrastructure. This includes supporting the safe and reliable operation of electrical, HVAC, water, sewage, water quality, and fire protection systems. The role also helps drive facility objectives related to stable energy supply, energy savings, cost reduction, environmental waste prevention, and repair or construction project coordination.
PositionResponsibilities
The incumbent is expected to perform the following functions that the company has determined are essential to this position:
- Assist in Facility designs and support of structural, mechanical, or HVAC related projects
- Assist in the development of preventive and routine equipment maintenance plans
- Development of catastrophic failure repair plans and countermeasures
- Budget planning and performance management for the Facility team
- Develop continuous improvement plans to generate energy cost-savings for site
- Support the improvement of indirect material costs, equipment, labor and vendor costs
- Other Facility duties as assigned
Skills And Abilities
- Minimum 1 year of experience with reading/understanding blueprints (experience using CAD or PDF editing software is a plus)
- Working knowledge of facility systems, utilities, equipment, and building infrastructure, including electrical, HVAC, water, sewage, and fire protection systems.
- Ability to support facility maintenance planning, repair coordination, construction projects, and daily facility operations in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify facility concerns, support corrective action, and follow issues through completion.
- Ability to review data, reports, and technical information related to facility equipment, utilities, energy usage, cost reduction, safety, and environmental performance.
- Intermediate to Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to analyze data, create graphs, generate reports, and present information clearly.
- Intermediate to Advanced Proficiency with CMMS Systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support deadlines related to facility repairs, improvements, inspections, and project activity.
- Project management experience required, experience in a production or an automotive manufacturing environment is a plus.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work with internal departments, contractors, vendors, and leadership.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline required, or 3 years of applicable experience in lieu of a degree.
