The purpose of this position is to administer and coordinate the department’s fire prevention program, including plan review, permitting, inspections, and investigations. This position ensures compliance with adopted fire codes and local ordinances while promoting positive, professional relationships with business owners, contractors, and the community through a service-oriented approach to code enforcement. The position may be designated by the Fire Chief to act in the capacity of Deputy Fire Marshal as needed.
This position also coordinates the department’s company inspection program by developing schedules, assigning and tracking inspections, reviewing reports for accuracy and compliance, and providing technical guidance on fire code application and inspection standards. While the position does not exercise direct supervisory authority over company personnel, it maintains functional authority related to fire prevention activities and program compliance within the established chain of command.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of 30 college credit hours is preferred, or the ability to obtain within one (1) year of appointment.
- Valid Driver's License;
- TCFP Intermediate Firefighter,
- TCFP Instructor I and II,
- TCFP Fire Inspector I and II,
- TCFP Fire Officer I and II
- TCFP Plans Examiner,
- TCFP Fire and Life Safety Educator
