Nuclear Medicine Technician - PRN

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will maintain technical skills needed to perform nuclear medicine procedures, order and handle radioactive materials, and ensure compliance with Texas Department of State Health Services regulations.

• Education:
  
  High School or GED, graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine technology program (preferably accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology).
• Experience:
  
  Not specified.
• Training:
  Complete initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  
  Must be registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB); if registry eligible, hold a temporary Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification from the Texas Medical Board and obtain a permanent MRT within one year.

• Perform nuclear medicine procedures and evaluate images for technical quality.
• Administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Adhere to all conditions of the Radioactive Material License and operating, safety, and emergency procedures.
• Perform and document wipe testing, radiation surveys, dose calibrator assays, and other required quality control/quality assurance procedures.
• Generate and maintain all required records.
• Use the Radiology Information System to schedule exams, complete exams, and enter charges for procedures performed.

• Submit ideas for improvements or changes needed to improve department operations.
• Report equipment malfunctions immediately to supervisors.
• Support the mission and vision of South Texas Radiology Imaging Centers.
• Contribute to the Methodist Healthcare System’s achievement of its goals.
• Learn and comply with system and facility safety policies and rules; use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times.
• Adhere to the STRIC Code of Conduct and demonstrate ethical behavior.
• Complete other duties as assigned.
