Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse (RN) serves as an advocate for patients and their families. Utilizing the nursing process and critical thinking, the RN delivers safe, quality care to patients, aiming for optimal outcomes in alignment with hospital goals. The RN actively engages with the team, demonstrating professionalism and adaptability in their role, while also being accountable for the quality of nursing care delivered according to Texas Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.

About

the Unit:
  • 20-bed Intensive Care Unit.
  • Patient-to-nurse ratio of 2:1.
  • Caring for a diverse range of ICU patients, primarily focusing on open heart.
  • Stroke Certified Unit with a collaborative approach with the Eye Bank and Tissue and Organ Alliance.
  • A culture that promotes teamwork, support, education, empowerment, and fun.
  • Actively participates in mentoring nursing students from various institutions.
Your Role Includes:
  • Conducting thorough nursing assessments including physical, psychosocial, and educational needs.
  • Developing individualized care plans based on assessments and patient goals.
  • Implementing and prioritizing nursing care effectively.
  • Regularly evaluating patient conditions and adjusting care plans accordingly.
  • Collaborating with healthcare teams and communicating effectively about patient care.
  • Utilizing critical thinking and organizational skills to maintain efficient patient flow.
  • Documenting accurately and timely in patient records.
  • Staying current with nursing knowledge and safety protocols.
  • Supervising delegated tasks performed by unlicensed personnel.
  • Positively promoting the mission and vision of the healthcare system.
  • Reporting unsafe conditions and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Respecting patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Participating in quality improvement activities and staff education.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • A minimum of six (6) months of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse required.
  • One (1) year of experience in acute care settings preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License is required.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
