Overview
Methodist Hospital, part of SA Health and a leading healthcare provider in San Antonio, is seeking an experienced Critical Care Registered Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive assessments of critically ill adult patients.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and titrate IV drips.
- Manage ventilators and other life-support equipment.
- Interpret cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring data.
- Respond rapidly to changes in patient status and emergency situations.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists and the broader interdisciplinary team to coordinate care.
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients and their loved ones, providing education on diagnoses, treatments and post‑ICU transitions.
- Participate in bedside rounds and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Help implement best practices and clinical protocols.
- Precept or mentor less‑experienced nurses as needed.
- Experienced Critical Care Registered Nurse.
- Flexibility to work 12‑hour shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
- Physical ability to lift, mobilize and care for critically ill patients safely.
- Sound judgment, advanced clinical skills, critical thinking and ability to stabilize patients with complex medical and surgical conditions.
