Reports To and Evaluated by Director of Teaching & Learning Resources
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in an academic discipline or technology-related field.
- At least two years of related experience.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in an academic environment.
- Experience designing and developing web-based courses and instructional materials.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively integrate technology into the classroom.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule to meet faculty and student needs.
- Must demonstrate the Morton College core values of Compassion, Equity, Accountability, Innovation, and Excellence.
- At least two years of teaching experience in a college or university setting.
- Master’s degree in Instructional Design or related field.
- Experience supporting faculty and staff in the use of instructional technologies and Learning Management Systems ( LMS ) such as Blackboard Ultra or the current LMS adopted by the College.
- Experience developing online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses.
- Familiarity with tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Turnitin, Respondus, Yuja, and other educational technology applications.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards ( ADA , Section 508, WCAG ) and Universal Design for Learning ( UDL ) principles.
The Instructional Technologist supports the College’s mission of teaching excellence by helping faculty effectively integrate technology into their instruction. This position designs and facilitates faculty and student training, develops online and hybrid courses, supports the Learning Management System ( LMS ), and promotes innovative educational technologies.
The Instructional Technologist collaborates across academic and technology departments to enhance digital teaching and learning at Morton College. The ideal candidate is an educator skilled in instructional design, accessibility, and emerging technologies, who models the College’s core values of Compassion, Equity, Accountability, Innovation, and Excellence.
SpecificJob Duties Faculty Support & Training
- Provide individual and group consultations for faculty on integrating technology into teaching and learning.
- Conduct workshops and create on-demand training materials on instructional design, digital tools, and LMS features.
- Promote innovative and underutilized tools that enhance student engagement and instructional effectiveness.
- Collaborate with faculty to design, develop, and update online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses.
- Apply best practices in instructional design, accessibility ( ADA , Section 508, WCAG ), and Universal Design for Learning ( UDL ).
- Assist with the creation of multimedia resources, such as instructional videos, interactive content, and digital assessments.
- Serve as a point of contact for faculty using Blackboard Ultra or the College’s current LMS .
- Troubleshoot LMS
-related issues and coordinate with MIS /IT for resolution. - Train faculty and staff on LMS tools, new features, and integrations that support teaching and assessment.
- Identify and recommend instructional technologies and software to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
- Support faculty use of applications such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Turnitin, Respondus, Yuja, and others.
- Collaborate with IT and academic areas to implement, evaluate, and scale technology initiatives.
