POSITION OVERVIEW
The Program Manager (Health Education) leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of Corazon Community Services health education programs with a focus on HIV/STI prevention, trauma‑informed wellness, and health equity. The role connects youth and adult populations to essential health resources through culturally responsive strategies, community partnerships, and direct service delivery.
The Program Manager supervises the Program Coordinator (Health Education) and additional outreach or support staff, oversees daily operations, testing services, health‑related events, and data reporting. Responsibilities include ensuring that programming reflects best practices, addresses local health disparities, and supports the agency’s broader goals of community empowerment and access.
RESPONSIBILITIES Program Management & Implementation- Oversee the planning and delivery of health education programming that promotes prevention, wellness, and informed decision‑making.
- Develop curricula and outreach models that reflect current public health standards and respond to local community needs.
- Monitor program compliance with agency protocols, resident expectations, and confidentiality requirements.
- Regularly evaluate outcomes and adjust implementation strategies based on data and community input.
- Develop, facilitate, and supervise health education workshops, training sessions, and awareness campaigns on topics such as sexual health, HIV/STI testing prevention, and overall community wellness.
- Conduct and oversee HIV/STI testing, counseling, and specimen collection (phlebotomy) in accordance with ethical and legal guidelines.
- Coordinate testing events in partnership with schools, community‑based organizations, and public health agencies.
- Ensure all staff maintain required certifications and receive ongoing training in trauma‑informed care, prevention education, and testing procedures.
- Supervise and mentor the Program Coordinator (Health Education), interns, and outreach staff supporting health education efforts.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and training for new team members and volunteers.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a culturally competent, collaborative, and youth‑centered team culture.
- Serve as a liaison to stakeholders and lead relationship‑building with community partners, healthcare providers, and advocacy coalitions.
- Represent Corazon at community events, health fairs, school presentations, and professional meetings.
- Strengthen referral pathways and access to services through strategic collaborations.
- Engage in proactive outreach through social media campaigns, community canvassing, and educational initiatives.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation of program activities, client services, and testing data.
- Maintain up‑to‑date records in alignment with agency and funder requirements.
- Prepare program evaluation reports and provide insights on trends, community needs, and areas for improvement.
- Identify and support funding opportunities to sustain and grow health education initiatives.
- Assist with the development of grant opportunities and ensure accurate grant reporting and compliance.
- Support fundraising and door engagement efforts, including events and partner communications.
- Monitor program budgets and ensure effective and responsible allocation of resources.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Social Work, or related field required.
- Minimum 2 years experience in health education, sexual health programming, or community outreach.
- Phlebotomy certification (or willingness to obtain certification upon hire) required.
- Experience in HIV/STI prevention, risk reduction counseling, and wellness education.
- Billingual proficiency in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of culturally competent, trauma‑informed approaches to health education.
