Bakery/Deli Clerk at Kroger Mountain View Foods

Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals for the department and monitor all established quality assurance standards. • Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products ordered and ensure correct portion size to prevent shrink.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to customers to meet their needs.
• Use all bakery equipment (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to company guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to food temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients according to recipes using various utensils and equipment.
• Adequately prepare, package, label and inventory ingredients.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates; take appropriate action.
• Use kitchen equipment (stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, etc.) properly.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understand the store layout and locate products on request.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions, making suggestions as needed.
• Maintain awareness of inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
• Promote trust and respect among associates and create an welcoming environment for customers.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; reinforce safety programs and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs; notify management of accidents.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflicts calmly and effectively.
• Follow directions and seek assistance as needed to resolve issues.
• Provide support and assistance to customers with minors or individuals with special needs and older adults when appropriate.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

• Customer service skills
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math
• Ability to obtain a current food handler permit once employed
