Position Overview

The Family Finding Specialist/Recruitment Specialist will identify and engage familial supports and connections, including relatives and fictive kin, to facilitate life‑long connections and permanency achievements. The role works collaboratively with licensing and casework teams, licensing target families and then transferring cases to the licensing team (no licensing case load). It also assists the family caseworker with expanding resources needed to better serve children and families in foster care, including conducting extensive research, investigation, and outreach to locate absentee parents/guardians.

Responsibilities
  • Provide professional technical assistance and resource development support to casework staff serving children with specialized and problematic behavior service needs, and facilitate resource expansion for children and families in foster care.
  • Engage youth, birth parents, family and social connections, foster parents, and staff to support stability and permanency, using a family‑centered, trauma‑informed, strength‑based, and EDI lens.
  • Use creative problem‑solving skills and non‑traditional search methods to identify and locate family members and supportive connections.
  • Act as a team member within the multidisciplinary team or Child and Family Team Meeting to facilitate connections between newly found family/fictive kin, supports, and other collateral resources to improve permanency outcomes.
  • Assist in licensing potential foster parents, fictive kin, and training biological parents of foster children as assigned.
  • Engage in proactive recruitment efforts, including events, networking, social media, and community outreach to target families most likely to meet the needs of specific youth.
  • Coordinate services and attend meetings with agencies, systems, and community providers to meet client needs.
