Sr. Cost Accountant

Description We are looking for a skilled Senior Cost Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Cincinnati, Ohio. This position is integral to supporting chemical manufacturing operations by overseeing cost accounting systems, analyzing variances, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment that values precision and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

- Manage and maintain accurate cost accounting systems, covering labor, materials, and overhead expenses.

- Update and monitor standard cost systems for raw materials, finished goods, intermediates, and by-products.

- Analyze production variances, including labor efficiency, material usage, and work order discrepancies.

- Collaborate with operational teams on process optimization, batch yields, and routing improvement.

- Oversee inventory accounting processes, including physical counts and cycle counting procedures.

- Prepare detailed cost reports and margin analyses to support financial decision-making.

- Evaluate capital investment opportunities and contribute to process enhancement initiatives.

- Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

- Work alongside Procurement to analyze supplier pricing and identify cost-saving opportunities. Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing cost accounting.

- Proficiency in cost rollups, standard activity rates, and inventory costing systems.

- Advanced Excel skills with expertise in data analysis and reporting.

- Strong analytical abilities and effective communication skills.

- Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems, including inventory costing modules.
