Bookkeeper

Mellotone Beer Project is seeking a part-time bookkeeper to manage the financial health of our brewpub. This role is perfect for a freelance bookkeeper who has experience in the brewing and hospitality industry. You will play a key role in ensuring our Quick Books Online stays current, our taxes stay compliant, and our margins stay healthy.

• Weekly/monthly maintenance:
  Handle bank reconciliations, expense categorization, and accounts payable in Quick Books Online.
• Compliance:
  Track and monitor monthly Ohio Sales Tax and TTB Excise Tax returns.
• Cost Tracking:
  Monitor and report on all costs to ensure our facility, taproom, kitchen and external distribution are hitting margin targets.
• Payroll Oversight:
  Ensure taproom staff are paid accurately (including tip pooling) via 7
  
  Shifts payroll processing.
• Financial Reporting:
  Generate monthly P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts to help us track taproom vs. distribution performance.
• Audit Support:
  Ensure all records are audit-ready for state and federal regulatory agencies.
• Additional Audit Help:
  Analyze and audit vendors, identifying ‘red flags’ and suggestions for vendor changes.

• Software: 3+ years of experience with Quick Books Online is required.

  Experience:
  
  Proven bookkeeping experience in a brewery, brewpub, or high-volume restaurant environment.
• Local Knowledge:
  Familiarity with Ohio Department of Commerce (Liquor Control) reporting requirements.
• Tech Savvy:
  Experience integrating our POS system (Toast) and other brewery management software with QBO is a major plus.
• Education:
  
  Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• Reliability:
  Ability to meet strict filing deadlines and communicate clearly with ownership.

  We anticipate this role requiring roughly 10 hours per week / 40 hours per month.
• Hybrid:
  Mostly remote, with an occasional on-site meeting in Over the Rhine as necessary.
• Pay: $30-$45 per hour, depending on experience, although we’re also open to flat fee or monthly retainer.
