Cost Accountant

Description

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant for a contract opportunity to support the accounting and finance team. This role is ideal for professionals with strong analytical skills and experience in cost analysis within a manufacturing or product-based environment.

Responsibilities:

+ Analyze production costs and track cost variances across departments and projects

+ Prepare standard cost rolls, reconciliations, and inventory valuations

+ Monitor and report on cost trends, margins, and budget-to-actual variances

+ Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to review BOMs and cost drivers

+ Assist with month-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations

+ Support internal and external audits through the preparation of cost-related documentation

+ Recommend process improvements to enhance cost tracking and reporting accuracy

Requirements

Qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

+ 2+ years of cost accounting experience preferred, ideally within manufacturing or distribution

+ Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory, and variance analysis

+ Proficient with ERP/accounting systems and Microsoft Excel

+ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
