Job SummaryWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to develop broad-based skills across both general accounting and construction accounting. The ideal candidate will bring a foundational understanding of accounting principles, a strong work ethic, and the ability to collaborate effectively with operations teams across the organization.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Prepare and complete monthly account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of any discrepancies.
- Determine, calculate, and process sales and use tax filings in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
- Manage payroll tax withholding calculations and coordinate timely remittances to the appropriate taxing authorities.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
- Support the preparation of financial reporting and management reports as needed.
- Assist with internal or external audit requests by gathering supporting documentation and reconciliations.
- Support ad hoc financial analysis as needed for senior leadership.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within finance and accounting to enhance efficiency and control.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Foundational understanding of accounting principles.
- Meaningful experience in Microsoft products (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.)
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and process flow
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a service‑minded approach.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; move within the office to retrieve files and meet with employees in their offices or conference room.
- Able to work at a computer (reading and keying) for extended periods of time.
- This role may require communicating verbally and in writing one on one, in small groups, as well as presenting to larger groups of employees.
- Employees may be required to travel for job related business.
The work environment is a typical office environment.
