Sr. Accountant

Description

Our client is seeking a highly detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their accounting team. This direct-hire opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounting professional with a strong background in general ledger accounting, high-volume account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting support. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment while managing complex reconciliations and ensuring the accuracy of financial data.

Key Responsibilities

+ Perform heavy account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed asset accounts

+ Prepare, review, and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation

+ Maintain and analyze the general ledger to ensure financial data is accurate, complete, and properly recorded

+ Lead or support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process

+ Investigate, research, and resolve reconciling items, discrepancies, and account variances in a timely manner

+ Prepare detailed account analyses, schedules, and roll forwards for key balance sheet and income statement accounts

+ Assist with preparation of internal financial reports and supporting schedules

+ Support external and internal audits by preparing requested documentation and reconciliations

+ Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls

+ Partner with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and operations teams to resolve accounting issues and improve data accuracy

+ Identify and implement process improvements related to reconciliations, close procedures, and general ledger maintenance

+ Assist with special projects, system implementations, and ad hoc reporting as needed

Requirements

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

+ 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment

+ Strong experience with high-volume reconciliations, general ledger activity, and month-end close

+ Solid understanding of accrual accounting and financial statement preparation

+ Experience preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analyses

+ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookup functions, and large data set analysis

+

Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle Net Suite, Microsoft D365, Quick Books, Workday, or similar preferred

+ Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

+ Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills

+ CPA or CPA-track preferred

Preferred Background

+ Experience in a mid-size or large company environment

+ Experience supporting audits and financial reporting processes

+ Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned accounts

+ Proven success in identifying process improvement opportunities within accounting operations
