General Function
Assumes a shared responsibility and accountability for developing and maintaining accurate and detailed accounting records and is responsible for preparing financial statements and reports. Reviews, monitors, reconciles and reports on all accounts for the department. Plays an active role in month‑end closing duties and reporting. Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined.
Ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience while operating within the bank's risk appetite.
- Accurately maintain all assigned accounting records and perform all related accounting functions.
- Prepare daily entries and monitor accounts.
- Maintain account balances.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and play a key role in the integration of new accounting systems.
- Ensure compliance with Bancorp accounting policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Reconcile and resolve outages from complex accounts.
- Coordinate month‑end accounting activities with other departments, divisions and affiliates.
- Ensure that all accounting entries and reports are completed on a timely and accurate basis.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of all account reconciliations.
- Make sure all entries are made in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Develop and maintain appropriate business relationships with internal and external customers.
- Assist in the preparation of various financial statements and monthly reporting.
- Respond to inquiries from management, auditors and other authorities regarding accounting issues, data in reports, and financial statements issued by the department, policies and procedures.
- Assist in performing various special projects as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
- Working knowledge of GAAP (required); preference for those working toward a Masters or other certification such as CPA or CMA.
- Minimum of one year of accounting‑related experience in the financial industry or public accounting.
- Proficiency in basic applications such as Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Ability to learn and understand systems such as Recon‑Plus, Frontier, Mobius, and TM1.
- Excellent communication, organization, and follow‑up skills.
- Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent people‑relationship building skills.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with other finance staff, managers and department leaders.
Base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skill set, experience, education and geographic location. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan. The incentive is based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
