Our client, a well-established and growth-oriented public accounting firm, is seeking an experienced Tax Manager / Senior Tax Manager to join its leadership team. This individual will play a key role in overseeing tax engagements, managing client relationships, mentoring staff, and contributing to the continued growth and strategic success of the practice.

Key Responsibilities Tax Engagement Leadership
  • Lead and oversee all phases of tax engagements, including planning, preparation, review, and delivery for corporate, partnership, trust, and individual tax returns.
  • Review complex tax returns, work papers, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely filing.
  • Conduct advanced tax research and provide strategic recommendations related to tax compliance, planning, and reporting matters.
  • Identify and resolve complex tax issues while advising clients and internal leadership on appropriate solutions.
  • Ensure all review comments and outstanding items are addressed prior to final filing.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by developing and maintaining strong professional relationships.
  • Communicate engagement status, findings, and recommendations to both clients and firm leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to provide additional value-added services and support business development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and client leadership teams to address operational, financial, and tax-related matters.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop senior associates, staff accountants, and interns.
  • Review team performance, provide coaching and feedback, and support ongoing professional development.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment while promoting accountability and high-quality client service.
  • Participate in recruiting, training, and performance evaluation processes.
  • Manage engagement budgets, timelines, and profitability to ensure projects are completed efficiently and within scope.
  • Monitor staff utilization and charge-hour goals while balancing multiple client engagements and deadlines.
  • Assist with process improvements, departmental efficiencies, and implementation of best practices across the tax function.
  • Prepare and analyze engagement billing and financial performance metrics.
Practice Growth & Firm Representation
  • Support practice development efforts through networking, community involvement, professional organizations, and client relationship building.
  • Participate in presentations, speaking engagements, and business development activities.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills both internally and externally.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
  • Active CPA license required
  • 5–7+ years of public accounting tax experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
  • Experience with corporate, partnership, trust, and individual tax returns
  • Proficiency with tax research tools and tax preparation software
  • Demonstrated leadership, project management, and mentoring experience
  • Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and organizational skills
Additional Information

  • Occasional local client travel required
  • Ability to work additional hours during peak tax seasons as needed
