Bookkeeper

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a Cincinnati, Ohio organization. This position plays an important role in keeping financial records accurate, supporting accounts payable activities, and helping maintain reliable accounting processes. The ideal candidate brings strong accounts payable experience, a structured approach to daily financial tasks, and the ability to contribute to consistent, well-documented procedures.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee the full accounts payable cycle, including reviewing invoices, securing approvals, and coordinating timely disbursements.

- Compare vendor statements against internal records and address discrepancies to keep payments current and accurate.

- Maintain organized financial documentation and perform routine bookkeeping activities that support overall accounting operations.

- Assist with reconciling bank accounts and credit card transactions to ensure records align with reported balances.

- Contribute to month-end accounting activities and help assemble documentation needed for audits and financial review.

- Create, update, and strengthen standard operating procedures for payable and bookkeeping workflows to promote consistency.

- Support payroll-related recordkeeping and assist with related accounting entries as needed.

- Help uphold internal controls, organizational guidelines, and applicable funding or compliance requirements in day-to-day transact

Requirements

- At least 3 years of bookkeeping experience, including substantial hands-on responsibility for accounts payable.

- Working knowledge of bookkeeping principles, invoice processing, account reconciliation, and general accounting support.

- Previous experience in a nonprofit environment is preferred.

- Demonstrated ability to build, follow, and improve documented accounting procedures and workflows.

- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail when handling financial information.

- Proficiency with accounting software such as Net Suite and strong Excel skills.

- Experience supporting related functions such as accounts receivable, payroll, or financial record maintenance is benefial
