Scroggins is seeking a collaborative, experienced professional to lead our Tax and Accounting Department. This is an opportunity to join a stable, growing firm where you can build relationships with clients, mentor a talented team, and help shape the future of our tax and accounting services. This is a hybrid position. Following initial onboarding and training in our Cincinnati office, you can work remotely 1–2 days per week and in the office 3–4 days per week.
WhatYou'll Do
- Lead and manage approximately 12 tax and accounting professionals.
- Assign and oversee annual tax return preparation and review processes.
- Review and prepare complex corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and individual tax returns.
- Review monthly accounting compilations, financial statements, and reconciliations for complex clients.
- Oversee quarterly tax estimate preparation and delivery while personally managing higher-level engagements.
- Manage IRS and state examinations, tax notices, and other compliance matters.
- Serve as a trusted advisor for a portfolio of complex tax and accounting clients.
- Partner with our Client Care Team to continually improve client onboarding, communication, and service delivery.
- Monitor workflow, prioritize deadlines, and ensure exceptional client service throughout the year.
- Coach, mentor, and develop staff through performance management, feedback, and day-to-day leadership.
- Foster a collaborative, positive culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- 10+ years of progressive tax and accounting experience.
- Previous experience leading and developing professional staff.
- CPA preferred.
- Relevant bachelor's degree (e.g., Accounting, Business) required.
- Strong knowledge of tax compliance and financial accounting.
- Experience with tax and accounting software.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional quality and client service.
