Financial Reporting, Accounting Manager
Consolidated Metal Products | Cincinnati, Ohio
Full-Time | On-Site
Consolidated Metal Products is looking for an Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager to join our finance team and take ownership of key accounting processes while leading and supporting a small, experienced accounting team.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being close to the details, solving problems, working across departments, and finding better ways to get things done. You’ll work directly with the VP of Finance and have exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities, from reporting and month-end close to payroll, audit support, fixed assets, and process improvement.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare financial and operational reporting to support business decisions.
- Manage daily accounting processes, cash reporting, bank activity, and reconciliations.
- Lead, coach, and support the accounting team while helping balance workload and responsibilities.
- Oversee weekly payroll and resolve more complex payroll-related issues.
- Own key portions of the month-end and year-end close, including GL reconciliations and journal entries.
- Support annual audits, tax preparation, physical inventory, and fixed asset reporting.
- Work closely with Sales, Customer Service, Shipping, HR, Operations, Quality, and other departments to resolve accounting-related issues.
- Use Excel and the company’s ERP/legacy accounting system to pull, analyze, and organize financial data.
- Coordinate with banks, auditors, payroll providers, and other outside partners.
- Support tariff-related accounting, invoicing, reconciliation, and compliance activities.
- Participate in future accounting technology and system improvements.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong hands-on accounting experience with responsibility for general ledger activity and month-end close.
- Experience preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
- Experience overseeing or supporting payroll processes.
- Prior experience leading, mentoring, or providing direction to accounting team members.
- Strong Excel skills and the ability to work with financial data.
- Comfort learning and working within an established or legacy ERP/accounting system.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues, dig into details, and determine what information is needed to solve a problem.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments.
- A practical, curious mindset—you’re willing to question existing processes and suggest improvements while understanding how and why the business operates the way it does.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and stay organized through monthly, quarterly, and year-end deadlines.
Why Join CMP?
This role offers the opportunity to have a meaningful impact on the accounting function without being removed from the day-to-day work. You’ll join an experienced team, work closely with company leadership, and have the opportunity to help improve processes and support future accounting system changes.
