Position: Data Processing Clerk I

About This Position:

TAG is seeking a highly detail-oriented Data Processing Clerk I to support occupational health research activities within a federal public health program. This role focuses on accurate data entry, occupational coding, records management, and clerical support for surveillance and research studies. The position requires precision, consistency, and the ability to follow structured federal guidelines while handling sensitive data. This role supports mission-critical research that informs public health and occupational safety policy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enter occupational health and exposure study data according to project-specific coding guides
  • Validate and correct data using edit reports and government instructions
  • Assign industry and occupation codes using national classification standards (e.g., Census, NAICS, SOC, OIICS, NIOCCS)
  • Provide clerical support for study data collection, including tracking surveys and assisting with documentation
  • Perform records management activities, including entering data into records systems such as Industry wide Studies Information System (ISIS)
  • Prepare records for archiving and ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with federal policies
  • Maintain electronic and paper records according to agency procedures
  • Identify and correct data entry errors to ensure accuracy and efficient retrieval
  • Participate in required project training and meetings
  • Handle sensitive information in accordance with privacy and security standards
Qualifications:
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the United States
  • High School Diploma;
    Associate’s degree preferred; equivalent administrative or data processing experience accepted
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in repetitive tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to follow written procedures and standardized instructions precisely
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience supporting research, health programs, or federal records management is a plus
