Branch Shelver
The Branch Shelver sorts, arranges, and shelves materials.
Essential
Job Duties And Responsibilities:
- Sorts and shelves books, magazines, pamphlets, audiovisual materials, and other library materials.
- Assists with directional and simple reference questions.
- Retrieves materials for customer holds and processes requests from other departments.
- Assists with merchandising.
- Reads shelves according to schedule for accurate order of materials.
- Shifts and straightens materials as necessary.
- Searches for misplaced or lost materials.
- Assists with weeding, as assigned.
- Pulls materials requiring mending or binding.
- Assists with training for new Branch Shelvers.
- Assists with processing donations.
- Supports and advances the Library's mission of connecting people with the world of ideas and information.
- Embraces and embodies the Library's core beliefs, strategic priorities and pillars of excellence.

Skill in customer service.
Ability to arrange materials in alphabetical and numerical order.
Ability to work independently and with coworkers in a wide variety of situations with minimal supervision.
Ability to use all technology applicable to the essential functions of the job and commonly used by the Library.
Lifting objects up to 50 pounds and carrying them short distances [50 feet or less] is required. Pushing carts of library materials up to 150 pounds is required.
Working irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, is required.
Qualifications:
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred. - Certifications or licensure:
None. - Years of relevant experience:
None. - Years of experience supervising:
None. - Must be at least 16 years of age.
Hours:
12 hours per week
Salary: $12.90 per hour
