LUBE TECHNICIAN

Responsible for inspecting vehicles for problems that affect performance and perform oil changes including installing and changing vehicle lubricating fluids. Willing to train with some vehicle knowledge or experience as a Lot Technician.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Verifies vehicle identification number against any pertinent documents and notifies supervisor of any discrepancies
  • Inspects vehicles, including examining and testing multiple points of interest on the vehicle and thoroughly checks for oil or other leaks
  • Installs/changes vehicle lubricating fluids as requested or as indicated on service order and disposes of used oil in a safe manner consistent with company and OSHA requirements
  • Clean engine parts to remove grime and buildup and apply lubricant
  • Inspect and check vehicle tires and test air pressure
  • Replace filters in the engine including air and oil filters as directed, performs simple service or repair work on the vehicle
  • Drives the vehicle to a designated location for inspection, pick-up or storage
  • Maintains work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition
  • May run errands or perform other duties as assigned by Manager or Service Advisor
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to carry and transport up to 80 pounds
  • Required to work in seasonal temperatures ranging from below 60°F or above 90°F
  • Requires standing for extended periods of time with frequent stretching, reaching, walking, stooping, pushing and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance and cleaning products
  • Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity
  • Ability to operate a variety of motor vehicles
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver license and good driving history
  • Basic knowledge of motor vehicles and maintenance, including but not limited to: oil changes, tire replacement/rotation, wiper & headlight replacement
  • Preference for some technical training in automotive repair
  • Able to verify numbers, follow printed instructions and complete the required forms

  • Good communication to interact with external and internal customers
